Welcome

This website is a publication of the Maywood Chamber of Commerce.

MCC welcomes spring and all the great possibilities that come with it.

Welcome to our new website!

In the span of a few weeks, life as we have known it has been radically transformed by an agent we cannot see, and that is difficult to detect.  COVID-19 has forced governments, the world over, to require their citizens to shelter-at-home, in order to slow the spread of the virus.

We are now living in unprecedented times; and it is important for our Members to know that the Maywood Chamber of Commerce is committed to helping business owners navigate through the uncertainties that lie ahead.  Beginning this month, we have created a special page that contains information pertaining to the virus, and decisions made by local, county and state leaders.

We encourage our Members and Village Leaders to share information that will help all business owners to find ways to survive, and even thrive, while maintaining safe practices and measures that promote the health and well-being of the public.

The Maywood Chamber of Commerce is here to help because we are all in this together.

John Prine was a composer, recording artist and live performer, who was born on October 10, 1946; and died April 7, 2020.  Prine was a distinguished member of Chicago’s folk revival movement, who was discovered in the early 1970s by film critic Roger Ebert and singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson.

Prine was not only an artist, but also an entrepreneur.   In 1981, he co-founded Oh Boy Records, an independent record label.  His music was celebrated worldwide; and in 2020, Prine received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Prine was born and raised in Maywood, Illinois; and proudly called the town home.

Dear John, even as your artistry and music touched the world; you continued to make Maywood your home.  Thank you for sharing your gifts; and for making us proud.  May you rest in Peace.
