A Time of Change
year 2017 is finally here, and it brings
with it many exciting changes.
First, the Maywood Chamber of Commerce
begins its 78th year of taking the lead
in supporting, promoting and growing
businesses in Maywood.
We have enjoyed such a long and rich
history because we put our Members
first. Our efforts in
advocacy, education, information and
networking have enabled us to continue to attract new
Members. It is exciting for me
to see our Members benefiting from all
we do, and this year we are positioned
to do even more.
year 2017 marks two important
anniversaries for Maywoodians - and for
all Americans, as I think about it.
In April, our nation will commemorate
President Wilson's declaration of war
and America's entry into that Great War,
which we now call World War I.
There are two incredible photos in the
possession of the Maywood Library that
show just how extensively our community
was involved with the war
effort during the years 1917 and 1918.
On September 10th,
of this year, the
Maywood Bataan Day Organization (MBDO) will
observe the 75th anniversary of
remembrance of those who made the
ultimate sacrifice for their country on
the Bataan peninsular, in The
the years, the Chamber has worked
hand-in-hand with the Village of Maywood
and MBDO to honor our distinct history, and
to maintain Maywood as a place where
businesses can succeed and grow. I am
delighted the Chamber now has a website with which
to pursue its
mission all the more effectively.
think about it, I realize the launch of
this website marks the beginning of a
new era for the Chamber in terms of
reaching Members and others who are
interested in our organization and our
community. There will be many
enhancements to the website as we go
forward, but for now, we celebrate the
fact that we can share even more of our
village and our Members with the world.
many Members are fond of receiving my
monthly updates, I will continue to
publish and distribute the Chamber's
newsletters through the post. But,
every newsletter will now be available
on this website, along with links to
even greater sources of information.
We hope you will enjoy the website and
will support our efforts to continue to
behalf of the entire Chamber Leadership,
I wish you a Happy 2017! May it be
a good and blessed year for all!
